Summer School Registration 2008

Event Description - Summer School Registration 2008

MISSION STATEMENT: Gonzaga Preparatory School exists to support the life of the Catholic Church in the Inland Northwest by seeking to serve all families who desire for their children Catholic education in the Jesuit tradition. Our pledge is to provide, in concert with the parents, alumni and community, an educational opportunity, which seeks to form Christian leaders spiritually, intellectually, physically and culturally.

Guided by the Gospel values of love and justice, students are challenged to fulfill their potential as life-long learners in service to others.

BACKGROUND: Gonzaga Preparatory is one of the finest academic schools in the Pacific Northwest while it simultaneously emphasizes the dignity and worth of the individual. Gonzaga Prep education is inspired by the sixteenth century tradition of St. Ignatius to prepare young people to be thoughtful, responsible people for others. St. Ignatius challenged us to do more than average work and to instill in our students the desire to lead and to serve their community. To do this, we strive to help our students become open to growth, intellectually competent, spiritual, loving, and committed to doing justice.

PURPOSE: 2008 is the sixteenth year that Gonzaga Prep will offer a summer school program for students. Courses focus on the development of basic skills and are designed for enrichment of the student's education in areas of particular interest or need. The summer school program is staffed by qualified teachers and is open to current or prospective Gonzaga Prep students in the 8th grade or above.

DATES: Registration by mail until June 16 .

Registration at Gonzaga Prep until June 18.

TIMES: Credit classes are three hours a day for the 5 week summer school session, from 8:00a.m. to 11:00a.m. or 11:30a.m.to 2:30p.m.

FEES: Tuition charges are as indicated below. Class texts and lab fees may be added to the basic fee of $285.00 for a three hour credit class .

BOOKS : Most class texts are those used in standard classes at Gonzaga Prep. Class texts can be purchased the first day of summer school (from 7:30am) at Gonzaga Prep.

ATTENDANCE : Summer school offers an opportunity to make up credit that was not successfully earned during the normal school year. Since credit is given for successful completion of a course, the attendance policy at Gonzaga Prep applies. Students are expected to be present daily. Role will be taken and tardies will be recorded. Students must adhere to any attendance requirements indicated by their instructor. Students must also understand that missing five days of class will result in failure of the course in which they are enrolled. Grade reductions may be incurred for fewer than five absences as outlined by each instructor.

REGISTRATION: For all courses, please register on the attached form, and mail to the address indicated on the bottom of the registration form. A registration form is also available as a link from the Gonzaga Prep webpage as a PDF file. This may be printed and then completed and mailed to Gonzaga Prep, to the attention of Philip Randolph.
