Dear Gonzaga Prep Family,
We at Catholic Charities want to take this opportunity to express our profound gratitude for your welcome and support of our family homeless shelter this past month. Dozens of vulnerable families found refuge in your community these past four weeks. They have been fed delicious meals from Prep faculty, staff and student families, and they have been able to sleep in a space large enough to keep them safe and healthy during this time of coronavirus and social distancing. Thank you for all that you have done to make this happen!
Today, Friday, June 19, our families are departing the gym space at Prep and moving back to the temporary shelter’s original location on the campus of the former Convent of the Holy Names. Thanks to a dedicated temporary shelter staff, there will be no interruption to or change in services offered to these families.
We at Catholic Charities are proud of this work, and we also hope you are proud for the part you played. It has been a special gift as well to have four recent Gonzaga Prep graduates serving, in the spirit of their Jesuit education, as members of our shelter staff this summer. We are so very honored to have been able to do this work in partnership with the Gonzaga Prep community.
Thank you from all of us, and on behalf of the vulnerable families we serve!
