At the end of April, the Office of Equity and Inclusion hosted Gonzaga Prep’s inaugural AMDG Week. AMDG comes from the Latin - Ad majórem Dei glóriam - meaning “for the greater glory of God.”
To live Ad majórem Dei glóriam is a way of being that permeates every thought, every deed, every action – all for the greater glory of God.
The week began with a con featuring emmy-nominated poet and equity advocate Christian Paige. He encouraged students to make a difference by having an impact on the three feet around them. Throughout the week, students, faculty, and staff celebrated heritage, wellness, our Jesuit faith tradition, and broke bread together as a community. At weekly Mass, Fr. Pat challenged us to discern how we will choose to live out AMDG with our lives. In the closing con on Friday, alumnus Matt Blaine `00 shared how his journey after Gonzaga Prep propelled him out into the world and then returned him to serve his vocation back at his alma mater.
Special thanks to the clubs, affinity groups, counseling center, and guest speakers who made the week a success!
