Bullpup girls basketball playe ball and shared camaraderie with other Jesuit schools this week in the Prep Classic, a holiday tournament hosted by Gonzaga Prep December 18-20 on the Gonzaga Prep campus. The Bullpups won two of their three games.
“It’s a good chance to play teams we don’t see all the time, plus it’s good for the missions of all of these schools to get together,” said second-year Bullpup head coach Geoff Arte. The teams – Prep, Bellarmine Prep (Tacoma), Seattle Prep (Seattle), and Xavier Prep (Palm Desert, CA) – played 6 games in 3 days. Three of the four teams competed last December at Xavier Prep in Palm Desert, CA.
Off the court, the teams spent time together by celebrating Mass at the Della Strada Jesuit community and then sharing a meal and team-building activities at the Hemingson Center on GU’s campus.
“It’s good companionship, something that’s been building over the last two years,” Arte said. “Girls are starting to get to know each other on a different level than just basketball and you see it.”
