Gonzaga Preparatory School

Vanessa Sibley Mudd

I am relatively new to the Inland Northwest. I’ve lived in Boston and Chicago for most of my life and I return to the East coast for a visit every summer, but I love Spokane and especially the Prep family! I attended college in Waterville, Maine at Colby College (Go Mules!) and graduate school in Cambridge, MA at Harvard University. My husband is also a religious educator. He works at Gonzaga University and he and I have three lively little boys, Henry, Quinn and Tucker. They are light in my day.

What drew you to Gonzaga Prep?
While in Boston, I taught at Boston College High School (another Jesuit school) in the Religious Studies and English departments for five years. While there, I learned the great value of the Jesuit educational method and knew that I wanted to continue in Jesuit education when we moved to the Inland Northwest. I knew what a great school Prep was all the way across the country!

How have your first few weeks been?
Wonderful and busy. The community is supportive, welcoming and warm. Prep really “walks the talk” when
it comes to living through the mission of Jesuit identity.
