Dennis Dougherty began his career student teaching at Gonzaga University then began working at Gonzaga Prep immediately after. Over the years he has witnessed the formation of many students throughout their four years at Prep. “I'm always encouraged by my students’ intellectual curiosity and desire to grow in their faith life,” said Dougherty. He also said that one of the greatest things about Gonzaga Prep is the extensive community connections. “Students have helped me secure a Whitehorse tour, invited me to their weddings, and even became my close friends,” he said. Dougherty is looking forward to reconnecting with colleagues and students and strengthening those relationships, as well as building new relationships with those who are joining the Prep community this year. As Dougherty becomes the most veteran member of the History Department he said he believes he has large shoes to fill, but he is excited for the year. “We are blessed with such great new and young faculty and I have been encouraged by their spirit and creative ideas which energizes me to seek to be a better teacher,” said Dougherty.
In his free time, you can find Dougherty enjoying family time, fly fishing, volunteering at church, watching college basketball, hiking, camping and enjoying the great outdoors.
