Why We Use Technology

STUDENT EXPERIENCE

Gonzaga Prep has been a 1:1 computing school since 2013. Each student uses their iPad to communicate, to create, and to connect with new ideas. From digital textbooks to multimedia notetaking to continuously-available online coursework, iPads allow Bullpups to extend their learning beyond the classroom and find their place in a technology-rich world.

Students begin their Gonzaga Prep technology experience by setting up their digital accounts and learning how to access digital resources. In-person assistance and troubleshooting is available daily at our IT Helpdesk, and our IT staff prioritize timely, responsive, person-centric advice. In the classroom, students learn how to use iPads to access coursework, discover new learning, and build new skills.

Gonzaga Prep faculty and staff embrace Cura Personalis, attentive care for the whole person—mind, body, and spirit. That philosophy extends to technology: we help students learn to use iPads and other technology tools to further their personal growth and become the person they were meant to be.

THE TOOLS WE USE

Finalsite Enrollment is our admission and re-enrollment platform. We collect contact information, a student photo, academic and discipline records, and both student and parent responses to admissions questions so that we can develop a holistic view of our future Bullpups.

PowerSchool is our student information system. Attendance, academic records, addresses and emergency contacts, and athletics forms are housed in this system. The mobile app makes it easy to track student progress.

Schoology is our learning management system. Faculty post assignments and resources that are accessible on student iPads whether at school, at home, or on the go. Students turn in their work digitally and can receive faculty feedback online.

Google Workspace is our productivity platform. Students store files in Drive, email teachers and classmates with Gmail, connect with coaches and advisors with Chat, and create learning products with Docs, Sheets, and Slides.

Notability is our digital notes and markup app. Students create and organize in-class notes so that learning is always available. Faculty post handouts, templates, and tools to Schoology so that students can add their own responses and ideas in Notability and then send their learning back to the teacher.

LunchTime (School Payment Portal) is our meal management system. Food purchases are viewable by both students and parents, and the system shows a current balance updated after each meal service. Cash deposits are accepted at the Treasurer’s Office, and credit, debit, and EFT deposits are accepted online or in the app.

FACTS is our tuition management platform. Parents set up payment contracts, make changes to payment schedules or amounts, update banking info, and track when payments have been processed.

Scoir is our college and career network tool. Students create a college application profile, generate an online resume, find colleges matching their interests, and sign up for in-person visits with college representatives.
