Teri's life was characterized by deep friendships, teaching, learning, sharing, and service. After graduating from Gonzaga University, she balanced her math teaching at Gonzaga Prep with MBA studies and later became a computer systems consultant. Guided by Jesuit values, Teri volunteered in Alaska with the Jesuit Volunteer Corps, working in a care facility for Y'upik Eskimos with developmental disabilities. She then returned to teaching at Jesuit High School in the Portland area where she led several student trips to help hurricane victims and the less fortunate. Teri also served as a foster parent. Even after losing her vision in 2013, she remained dedicated, participating in programs for the Oregon Commission for the Blind and teaching technology skills to the visually impaired. Her life embodied the Ignatian spirit of selfless service.

She has served on the Board of Directors, played a pivotal role in establishing the Financial Aid Luncheon, served several years on the Parent Advisory Committee, volunteered for every fundraising event, and has been sought after as a math tutor by families throughout Spokane. A Bullpup through and through, she is a fixture at just about every sport, event, and activity at Prep. Molly Schemmel is a shining example of the Jesuit call to serve others and a true blessing to our entire community.
For two years, no one could stop GONZAGA PREP GIRLS BASKETBALL. Under the guidance of longtime coach Mike Arte, the teams dominated the sport, winning 51 straight games over two seasons and consecutive 4A State Titles. Their success earned a national USA Today Super 25 ranking in 2015 and a trip to Madison Square Gardens to compete in the Dick’s Sporting Goods high school nationals semifinals. Nine members of the combined squads went on to play collegiate sports.
